Helping business owners gain clarity and confidence in their numbers.

I’ve been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. At about eight years old, I answered an advertisement in the back of a comic book and started a personalized Christmas card and stationery business in my neighborhood. I didn’t know it then, but that small venture was the beginning of a lifelong fascination with business—how ideas become reality, how businesses grow, and how the right information helps owners make wise decisions.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that while many business owners are passionate about what they do, very few are passionate about bookkeeping. And that’s okay—because I am.

I enjoy bringing order to complexity, organizing financial information into something meaningful, and helping business owners replace “I think…” with “I know.” Good bookkeeping isn’t just about preparing for tax season; it’s about understanding where your business stands today so you can confidently decide where it’s going tomorrow.

Helping small business owners focus on what they do best while I take care of the financial details is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

My Journey

My path to bookkeeping has taken some interesting turns.

Although I originally thought I wanted to become a teacher, my father introduced me to one of his friends—a CPA— when I was in high school, and I quickly realized accounting combined the analytical thinking I loved with the opportunity to help people solve real-world problems.

I earned my accounting degree from Azusa Pacific University and, while still a student, was hired by two of my professors, both practicing CPAs, as a junior accountant. After marriage and graduation, I continued working in public accounting before transitioning to freelance bookkeeping and consulting so I could build a career that better fit our growing family.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping businesses in a variety of industries, including contractors, medical and dental practices, veterinary offices, and property management companies. I specialized in helping businesses computerize their bookkeeping systems, traveled nationally providing software installations and training, and even participated in the production of training materials for dental practice management software. I was able to fulfill that desire to teach, too, within the framework of software and business systems!

As our homeschooling journey progressed, my professional experience naturally blended with another passion—helping organizations and people thrive. I volunteered to design and maintain a registration database serving more than 400 families, later redesigning and managing the school’s website and email communication systems. Eventually I took over the mathematics department, teaching junior high and high school math courses. All told, I was blessed to have 20 years on the Admin team, 12 of which were also in the classroom.

Whether I was building systems behind the scenes or teaching students in the classroom, I found satisfaction in bringing clarity to complexity and helping others understand concepts that once seemed overwhelming.

Today, my husband and I own and operate a dental laboratory, where I continue to manage the bookkeeping and financial operations while expanding my bookkeeping practice to serve other small business owners.

Looking back, every step of that journey—from accounting to consulting, to teaching, to running our own business—has contributed to the way I serve my clients today.
